Robredo opposes Boracay development agency
MANILA, Philippines — Presidential aspirant Vice President Leni Robredo on Wednesday pleaded with Congress to address the concerns of indigenous people, residents, and other groups opposing the creation of the Boracay Island Development Authority (Bida).
Robredo met with members of the Ati tribe in Malay, Aklan, as part of her two-day campaign sortie on Panay Island, a known bailiwick of the opposition Liberal Party in the Visayas.
Robredo, a former Camarines Sur representative, agreed with the residents that it would be better for the government to use the proposed P1-billion budget for Bida to fund development and infrastructure projects in Boracay.
