Comelec eyes review of campaign rules
MANILA, Philippines — Acting election chief Socorro Inting said the Commission on Elections (Comelec) might review its in-person campaign restrictions due to complaints from several candidates.
Facing the media for the first time since becoming acting chair on Feb. 3, Inting said their campaign rules were based on the pandemic protocols set by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases.
But she also acknowledged that several candidates have complained against the Comelec ban on handshakes, selfies, and any close physical contact between candidates and voters during campaign sorties.
