COVID-19 cases in Baguio City may have peaked — OCTA Research

MANILA, Philippines — COVID-19 cases in Baguio City may have peaked, but closer monitoring is still needed in the next few days to confirm the trend of infections, independent analytics group OCTA Research said Thursday.

According to OCTA Research fellow Guido David, the reproduction number of the estimated number of new cases from one patient is currently 1.86 in the country’s summer capital.

“Baguio City new cases may have peaked already. Reproduction number down to 1.86. We need a few days to confirm the trend,” he said over Twitter.

Baguio City was previously classified by OCTA Research as having a “severe outbreak” of COVID-19 cases.  

Baguio currently has 3,285 active COVID-19 cases, according to its public information office.

On Wednesday, the city recorded 371 new cases of COVID-19.
