“Star City has decided to postpone its long awaited reopening. While the current Alert Level allows the operation of amusement parks or theme parks at reduced capacity levels, we feel that given the rising number of [COVID-19] cases in the country, postponement is the more prudent thing to do,” it said.

“Ensuring the safety [and] well-being of guests and employees takes precedence,” it added.

Star City said it will closely monitor developments on the COVID-19 situation in the country and “make an announcement on a firm reopening date when the conditions are more favorable for all.”

On Sunday, the Philippines logged 28,707 additional COVID-19 infections, the highest tally of daily cases recorded since the pandemic started.

The iconic theme park was leveled to the ground when fire broke out past midnight on October 2, 2019.  Damage to property was pegged at P1 billion.

Part of the office of its sister company Manila Broadcasting Co. (MBC), was also damaged in the said fire.
