NO JABBING

NO, he didn’t hit a policeman.

Senior Supt. Louie Oppos, deputy regional director for operations of the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7), yesterday denied jabbing a policeman in the Pasil police station for not wearing complete uniform during a surprise inspection over the weekend.

Oppus said he just reminded policemen to be vigilant, report for duty and perform their job well.

He spoke again about the basic functions of the police during a gathering of police station chiefs in Cebu City on Monday afternoon.

Cebu Daily News earlier reported that Oppus was irked when he saw a policemen in the Pasil station dressed in civilian clothes.

A source said a senior inspector tried to explain that he was about to go home and was waiting for his relieve. The policeman reportedly got jabbed in the body by Oppus. /Correspondent Chito Aragon

BOY STABS TRIKE DRIVER DEAD

A PEDICAB driver was stabbed dead in barangay Suba, Danao City, on Saturday night.

Police are looking for a 16-year-old boy who fled after the attack, which killed Nelson Lawas, 49.

Lawas earlier confronted another pedicab driver, Jacinto Banzon, whom he accused of destroying the chair of his pedicab.

Police said the boy, who was eating in a nearby carenderia, intervened and stabbed Lawas. /CORRESPONDENT GABRIEL C. BONJOC
