BACOLOD CITY––Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson has granted the request of Philippine Airlines (PAL) to mount special flights from Manila to the Bacolod-Silay International Airport for fully vaccinated individuals from Oct. 18 to Nov. 29.

Fully vaccinated individuals are now allowed to enter Negros Occidental and this city without presenting swab test results.

In a letter Wednesday, Oct. 13, to PAL Manager Rene Aviles, Lacson informed him that his request to mount the special flights had been granted.

Aviles earlier sought permission to allow fully vaccinated individuals to travel from Manila to Bacolod.

Passengers of the special flights would be given a special discounted rate of P3,750 all-in-fare without undergoing swab tests, Aviles said.

The scheduled flights will depart from Manila around 8 a.m. and arrive at the Bacolod-Silay International Airport at 9:20 a.m. every Monday and Friday only, starting Oct. 18 until Nov. 29.

Provincial Consultant Alfredo Abelardo Benitez said the PAL special flights would also cater to Bacolod residents, considering that the city government would no longer require swab tests for fully vaccinated residents.

Aviles said the special flights aim to help promote the government’s vaccination program.

Selling of tickets for the special flights started Oct. 14 at selected travel agents and PAL direct ticket offices only and not through their website, Aviles said.
