COVID-19 hits 15,592 more individuals

The Department of Health (DOH) reported 15,592 more COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, taking the country’s total active cases of the disease to 162,580.

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) reported 15,592 more COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, taking the country’s total active cases of the disease to 162,580.

According to DOH, the active cases compose 6.7 percent of the total 2,417,419 confirmed cases if COVID-19 in the country.

Meanwhile, the health agency also logged 24,059 more recoveries, raising the total number of patients who survived the disease to 2,217,611. Another 154 patients have died, bringing the death toll to 37,228 or 1.54 percent of the total cases.

On positivity rate, 24.9 percent of 53,349 people who were tested were found positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus on Monday.

“Testing output last September 20 is only 53,349 compared to the 73,904 average daily testing output for the last 7 days,” the department said.

Four testing laboratories, which contributed 0.3 percent of samples tested and 0.3 percent of positive individuals in the last 14 days, were not able to submit their data on time.

Eighty-nine duplicate entries, including 59 recoveries, were removed from the total case count, while 89 cases initially tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.
