CA confirms JBC appointment of retired SC Justice Mendoza

MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Appointments (CA) on Wednesday confirmed the appointment of retired Supreme Court (SC) Justice Jose Mendoza to the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC).

Hearing no objections,  the CA gave the green light on Mendoza’s appointment as a member of the JBC representing retired justices of the SC for a term that ends on July 9, 2025.

The CA committee on justice and Judicial and Bar Council earlier recommended Mendoza’s appointment for confirmation.

FEATURED STORIES

Mendoza was appointed by President Rodrigo Duterte as a JBC member in 2017. He served until July 9, 2021.

On July 20, Mendoza took his oath of office after he was reappointed as a member of the JBC.

He will be a regular member of the JBC and chairperson of the JBC executive committee for another four years.
