P3.5M backhoe torched in Himamaylan City
BACOLOD CITY––Unidentified armed men torched on Saturday a backhoe estimated to cost P3.5 million in Sitio Bulod in Barangay Carabalan, Himamaylan City.
Lt. Arturo Margallo, Himamaylan deputy police chief, said the police and Army conducted an ocular inspection Sunday at the site, some 25 kilometers from the town proper after a barangay tanod reported the incident.
Their initial investigation showed that the seven unidentified armed men were communist rebels, he said. “However, those are just allegations, Margallo said. “We have yet to confirm if the burning was done by the communist rebels.”
The backhoe, used for the road construction, was owned by ESJ and Sons Construction Co., Margallo said.
