COVID-19 deaths in Olongapo surpass 200 mark

OLONGAPO CITY — Three more COVID-19 fatalities were recorded in this city on Saturday, raising its total death toll to 201 on Sunday (August 29) since the pandemic started last year.

Olongapo Mayor Rolen Paulino Jr. said the latest fatalities are two females, aged 77 and 85, and a 57-year-old male.

At least 53 more cases and 18 recoveries were registered on the same day, bringing the number of active cases to 599.

The youngest of the new patients is a 6-year-old girl in Barangay Sta. Rita, while the oldest is a 92-year-old woman in Barangay Barretto.

Since the pandemic began, a total of 3,807 confirmed cases were registered in the city, 3,007 of which have already recovered from the disease.
