2 nabbed after sneaking toothpaste with ‘shabu’ into Zambales jail

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales — Two visitors ended up behind bars after they tried to sneak a toothpaste with “shabu” (crystal meth) into the provincial jail, police said Friday.

Col. Romano Cardiño, police provincial director, identified the suspects as Carlota Funiestas, 47, and Mark Andrew Enrico, 21, both residents of this town.

Cardiño said a jail guard discovered the alleged shabu placed in two heat-sealed straws that were inserted inside the toothpaste tube.

The suspects were charged with violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Recently, authorities also intercepted some illegal drugs that were put in cup noodles and bread, prompting the jail management to intensify its monitoring of food being brought inside the facility.
