'Motorcycle thief' slain in shootout with Bulacan cops

CAMP GEN. ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan—A suspected motorcycle thief was killed when he reportedly engaged policemen in a shootout during a hot pursuit operation in Pandi town Thursday (Aug. 26), authorities said.

Bulacan Police Director Col. Lawrence Cajipe said the unidentified suspect drove the stolen motorcycle and refused to stop at a police checkpoint in Barangay San Roque at 12:50 a.m.

The suspect fired shots while being chased by the policemen, prompting the lawmen to shoot back.

Police recovered from the slain suspect his caliber .38 revolver and the stolen motorcycle.
