2 more succumb to COVID-19 in Aurora

MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga––Two more residents of Aurora province have died from COVID-19, the provincial operations center reported on Thursday.

Provincial government officials said those who died from the viral disease were Dipaculao and Maria Aurora town residents.

Their deaths brought to 80 the COVID-19 fatalities in the province.

Aurora recorded 11 new cases on Friday, bringing the active cases to 29. It registered zero recoveries.

The province has recorded 2,083 cases since the pandemic began last year. Of these, 1,929 have recovered.

Ten of the active cases are in Maria Aurora town, seven in Dipaculao, six in San Luis, four in Baler, and one each in Dilasag and Dinalungan.

On July 25, Aurora Gov. Gerardo Noveras urged his constituents to follow health protocols and travel policies to prevent the Delta variant from entering the province.

Citing how the Delta variant infected hundreds of thousands of people in India and Indonesia, Noveras said the Delta variant should not be ignored or taken lightly.

He said Aurora residents must expect stricter border control policies soon to stop new COVID-19 variants. INQ
