Ilocos Norte logs 247 new COVID-19 cases
LAOAG CITY—At least 247 new cases were added on Sunday to the COVID-19 tally of Ilocos Norte province, bringing the total active cases to 2,288, according to the provincial government.
At least 40 have recovered, and three had died due to complications, it said.
The capital city of Laoag continues to have the highest number of active cases with 898, followed by Batac City (260), and the towns of Bangui (151), Bacarra (119), Sarrat (140), Pagudpud (125), and Dingras (102).
On Sunday, independent research group OCTA noted a “critical risk” in the average attack rate of 53.64 cases per 100,000 population in Laoag City. Its infection rate was also at critical risk at 1.82 percent, the group said.
The province has had 6,724 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began in March 2020, with 4,328 recoveries and 108 deaths.
