MANILA, Philippines — Fair weather is forecast to prevail throughout Luzon on Wednesday, including Metro Manila, but scattered rain showers are expected from Habagat (the southwest monsoon), especially from noon until nighttime.

The same weather will prevail nationwide, except for Palawan, where more consistent rain and cloudier weather are expected.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) also said that Tropical Depression Emong officially left the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) at around 9:00 a.m. Tuesday.

According to Pagasa in its latest advisory, another low-pressure area (LPA) has been spotted 855 km west of Iba, Zambales, which is pulling the southwest monsoon currently sweeping through the Philippines.

The LPA, however, will not enter PAR.

“Hindi po ito papasok sa ating area of responsibility, papalayo po ito. Pero may factor po ito kung bakit meron pa rin tayong habagat,” said Pagasa weather specialist Joey Figuracion.

(It will not enter our area of responsibility, it is moving away. In any case, it still contributes to the southwest monsoon.)

Because of this, Metro Manila (along with Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Western Visayas, Zambales and Bataan) can expect cloudy weather and scattered rain showers throughout Tuesday evening.

(However, we want to remind our countrymen to remain vigilant as the seas are expected to become moderate to rough in Luzon.)

“At delikado pa rin ‘yan sa ating mga kababayan na gumagamit ng maliliit na sasakyang pandagat,” he added.

(And that still poses a danger to our countrymen using small boats.)
