3 provinces in North shaken by series of quakes

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela—A series of earthquakes rattled the provinces of Isabela, Cagayan and Nueva Vizcaya on Wednesday (May 12) night and Thursday (May 13) morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

A 2.0-magnitude quake, tectonic in origin, was recorded in coastal Dinapigue town in Isabela at 6:11 a.m. on Thursday. It had a depth of 29 kilometers and was located 17 km northwest of the town.

On the same day, a 2.6-magnitude quake, tectonic in origin, shook Dalupiri Island in the coastal town of Calayan in Cagayan at 3:38 a.m. It had depth of 11 km and located 14 km southeast of the town.

On Wednesday, a 1.5-magnitude quake was felt in Ambaguio, Nueva Vizcaya at 8:40 p.m. It had a depth of 36 km and located 14 km southwest of the town..

No one was hurt and no damage was reported during the quakes.
