DepEd launches campaign to promote vaccination vs COVID-19

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Education (DepEd) on Thursday launched ‘Vacc2School: Ligtas na Bakuna, Para sa Balik-Eskwela!’ campaign to promote vaccination against COVID-19 among stakeholders.
“Nilalalayon ng Vacc2School na ipaalam, turuan, at makilahok ang mga stakeholder ng Kagawaran sa pagpapalaganap ng pagbabakuna at iba pang kaugnay na polisiya upang puksain ang COVID-19.” DepEd said in a statement.
(The ‘Vacc2School’ campaign aims to inform, educate, and engage department stakeholders in immunization promotion and other related policies to eliminate COVID-19.)
“Binuo rin ang naturang kampanya bilang suporta sa BIDA Solusyon Plus sa COVID-19 campaign ng Department of Health (DOH) para sa sektor ng edukasyon,” it added.
(This campaign was also developed in support of BIDA Solusyon Plus in the Department of Health’s (DOH) COVID-19 campaign for the education sector.)
DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones urged teachers and education personnel to participate in the campaign.
“I am encouraging everyone, especially the teachers, and other education personnel to participate in this campaign, and make informed decisions on vaccination to further intensify and advance our chances of safely returning to school,” she said.
“We would like to encourage our teachers to vaccinate themselves because it is not only a matter of protecting your personal rights, it is also a matter of protecting the lives and health of children which is also entrusted to our care,” she added.
According to the National Vaccine Deployment Program (NVDP), DepEd will participate in three levels:
- receiving the vaccine
- being a member of various vaccination task groups
- being the advocacy champion of such a program
The education department said it will release a variety of materials throughout the campaign to deliver its goals.
“Nakaangkla ang mga naturang materyales sa mensahe ng Kagawaran sa pakikilahok nito sa pagbabakuna na nakatuon sa pangako nitong sundin ang mandato ng DepEd, ang katotohanan, kalusugan at kaligtasan, at pagpapalaganap ng matalinong pagdedesisyon.” the DepEd added.
(Such materials are anchored in the department’s message of its participation in vaccination that is focused on its commitment to follow DepEd’s mandate, truth, health and safety, and promoting informed decision-making.)
On April 16, the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases approved the inclusion of frontline personnel in basic education and higher education institutions and agencies in the vaccination of A4 priority group.
