Man fakes own kidnapping to avoid work, gets arrested

A 19-year-old man who admitted staging his own kidnapping to avoid work has been arrested in Arizona, USA.

Authorities found Brandon Soules bound and gagged with a bandana near a water tower on Feb. 10, according to a release from the Coolidge Police Department on Feb. 18.

“Initially, the subject reported to officers that two masked men kidnapped him, hit his head (knocking him unconscious) and drove him around in a vehicle before they left him in the area he was found,” police explained.

After detectives conducted an extensive investigation, however, they discovered that Soules fabricated his story and no kidnapping or assault had occurred.

Police also disclosed that Soules “admitted during an interview that he made up the story as an excuse to get out of work.”

He has since been arrested on Feb. 17 for false reporting, the police said.  /ra
