2 elderlies from Rizal town succumb to Covid-19

LUCENA CITY – Two male senior citizens became the latest coronavirus disease (Covid-19) fatality in the town of Tanay in Rizal province.

The local government of Tanay announced on its Facebook on Friday night, Feb. 12, that an 81-year-old resident of Barangay (village) Wawa and a 70-year-old patient from Barangay Sampaloc both died in undisclosed hospitals due to the dreaded respiratory illness.

Local authorities have appealed to the elderlies not to go out of the house unless for essential needs and emergency cases.

Tanay has logged 401 Covid-19 cases since the pandemic was declared in March last year, but at least 374 have recovered as of Feb. 12. The town has 12 active virus carriers.

Rizal province, still under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) status, recorded 16,636 Covid-19 cases, 15,641 recoveries and 595 fatalities as of Feb. 11.
The province still has 400 active cases.
