Teen steals nearly $1M from grocery store he works at, arrested
A 19-year-old man has been arrested after scamming nearly $1 million (around P48 million) from a grocery store he worked at in Atlanta in the United States.
Tre Brown allegedly made over 40 fake returns to the store for non-existent items in around two weeks from December 2020 to January 2021, Gwinnett County police said in a release yesterday, Jan. 21.
Through the fake returns, Brown is believed to have made around $980,000 and put it on multiple credit cards. He then used these to buy clothes, shoes, guns and even two cars.
Brown totaled one of the vehicles, however, prior to getting arrested, according to the police.
A large sum of the money was returned to the store following his arrest, although police did not disclose the exact amount. Brown has since been charged with theft. /ra
