Covid-19 cases in PH reach 492,700; active infections now at 24,478

MANILA, Philippines — The total number of Covid-19 cases in the Philippines reached 492,700 with 1,453 new infections, the Department of Health (DOH) reported Wednesday.

Of the total number, 24,478 are active cases, where 84.9 percent are mild, 6.1 percent are asymptomatic, 5.5 percent are critical, 3 percent are severe, and 0.5 percent are moderate.

The DOH also recorded 397 new recoveries and 146 fatalities, bringing the total to 458,523 and 9,699, respectively.

There were 11 duplicates, of which two were recoveries and one fatality, that were removed from the total case count.

Moreover, the DOH added that 44 cases were previously tagged as recovered, but were reclassified as deaths after final validation.

Four labs were not able to submit their data to the Covid-19 Data Repository System (CDRS) on Jan. 12, the DOH said.
