MANILA, Philippines — Manila earmarked P29.8 million to be distributed as gratuity pay for its contractual workers for their hard work during the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, according to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Manila Public Information Office.

Ordinance No. 8718, signed by Mayor Isko Moreno, grants P3,000 gratuity pay for each of the 8,008 contract of service and job order employees.

Moreno said the city would get the money from the Special Activities Fund – Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses in its 2020 budget.
