MANILA, Philippines — Interior Secretary Eduardo Año on Tuesday confirmed that minors are still prohibited from going to malls, especially in areas under general community quarantine (GCQ), until local government units come up with their respective resolutions or ordinances.

Año made the clarification after Metro Manila police chief Brig. Gen. Vicente Danao said minors in areas under GCQ are still banned in malls.

“Yes, that’s right. Kailangan lumabas muna ang resolution nila [LGUs],” he told INQUIRER.net in a Viber message.

Año earlier said minors may go to malls as long as they are accompanied by their parents or their guardians.

For Metro Manila, Año said mayors are expected to pass this week a resolution that would provide for the age bracket of minors they would be allowing into malls.

“We are still awaiting for the common resolution of NCR Mayors on what age bracket of minors who would be allowed to go the malls accompanied by parents/guardians. They promise to pass it this week,” he said.
