High-powered firearms seized; man arrested in Danao raid
A MAN was arrested by police after several firearms were seized in his house during a police raid in barangay Tupas, Danao City, northern Cebu.
Police said Marcelo Durano was the leader of the “Marcing Group,” which is involved in selling of unlicensed firearms.
Seized during the raid were three KG-9 machine pistols, two Ingram machine pistols, three .45 pistols, a .9mm pistol, a shotgun and several ammunition and magazines.
A search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court (RTC) Judge Marilyn Ligura-Yap was used in the raid conducted by members of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Central Visayas (CIDG-7 last Friday afternoon.
Insp. Delfin Bontuyan, one of the raiders, said Durano was placed under surveillance for two weeks before the raid.
Bontuyan said it was possible that Durano has cohorts in selling unlicensed guns in different places in Visayas and Mindanao.
