Palace to LGUs: Enforce anti-COVID measures in ‘Quinta’ evacuation sites

MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang on Monday reminded local government units (LGUs) to ensure that the minimum health standards are still observed by evacuees displaced by Typhoon Quinta.

“Kinakailangan din magobserba ng COVID-19 mitigation measures sa pamamahagi ng mga relief goods at management ng evacutation centers,” presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said during a press briefing.

(COVID-19 mitigation measures must still be observed in the distribution of relief goods and in evacuation centers.)

“Bawal pa rin ang mass gatherings at inaabisuhan ang LGUs na maglagay ng designated areas na may appropriate markings,” he added.

“Quinta” was last spotted in the vicinity of Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro, with maximum sustained winds of 125 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 180 kph.

It is moving west at 25 kph.

Roque said the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has over P890 million worth of food packs and standby funds.

“Activated na rin po ang quick response teams ng field offices at nakipag-ugnayan sila sa provincial at municipal disaster risk reduction management offices,” the Palace official said.
