MANILA, Philippines — Police on Friday inspected a suspicious looking package that was left along Magallanes but which, upon investigation, contained nothing more than cassava (kamoteng kahoy).

Makati City police chief Superintendent Jaime Santos told INQUIRER.net in a phone interview how their Explosives and Ordnance Division operatives rushed to the area and inspected the package at past 8 a.m.

“They received information and immediately responded to the area but the package only contained kamoteng kahoy, there was no bomb,” he explained.

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said over its official Twitter account that traffic was stalled on the northbound lane of Magallanes because of the incident.
