Asian Eye adapts to COVID-19, offers online delivery solutions and teleconsultation

MANILA, Philippines – Asian Eye Institute has introduced alternative clinic procedures and services to serve eye patients safely.

Alternative services offer safety and convenience, especially for senior citizens and people with a weakened immune system.

Asian Eye, a Lopez-led company and the country’s eye care center with the widest network of eye clinics, treats only patients with eye problems; thus, patients will not encounter others undergoing treatment for respiratory and non-eye illnesses.

“Our new services and procedures represent Asian Eye’s response to the most pressing concern of eye patients,” says chief operating officer Alwin Sta. Rosa.

All Asian Eye healthcare staff wear personal protective equipment, including droplet shields on slit-lamp machines that doctors use to look into patients’ eyes.

If patients test positive for COVID-19, we advise them to defer their surgery until they no longer have an active coronavirus infection, says chief Operating Officer Alwin Sta. Rosa.

“We ask patients requiring surgery to undergo rapid antigen tests with results released within 15 to 30 minutes,” he adds.

For online services and teleconsultations, patients are advised to click this link for online services, but if the doctor recommends an in-clinic checkup, the fee will be refunded.

Asian Eye also implements stringent clinic procedures and policies, such as limiting the number of patients per day.

Dr. Amadeo Veloso, retina and vitreous disease specialist, reminds the public to schedule a teleconsult as soon as possible.
