The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is close to completing the distribution of the second tranche of cash aid under the social amelioration program.

However, Social Welfare Secretary Rolando Bautista admitted that some 300,000 family-beneficiaries have yet to be listed and receive aid. The DSWD also said they were in the process of validating another 200,000 beneficiaries, which were “returned” for validation due to lack of crucial information, such as contact numbers and middle names.

As of Friday, the DSWD has released P78.4 billion to 13.1 million family-beneficiaries of the second tranche of cash aid. —Patricia Denise M. Chiu
