New mom dies from COVID-19 after giving birth in Olongapo City

SAN ANTONIO, ZAMBALES –– A 31-year-old woman in Olongapo City died from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Thursday, Aug. 20, seven days after giving birth.

Details about the baby and its condition have not been released. The mother underwent a cesarean procedure at a government hospital on August 14, said Olongapo Mayor Rolen Paulino Jr.

Paulino said the city also recorded five new cases, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases there to 105.

The city’s medical workers are treating 63 patients. The mother is Olongapo’s fourth fatality.
