NBI, CIDG should conduct intensified probe into PhilHealth mess – Gordon
MANILA, Philippines — The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) of the Philippine National Police (PNP) should conduct an intensified investigation into the alleged anomalies in the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth), Sen. Richard Gordon said in an interview on Saturday over AM radio station DWIZ.
“If they’re hiding something, or even if they’re not hiding something but did something wrong, it will come out,” Gordon said, speaking partly in Filipino, in an interview over AM radio station DWIZ.
‘That’s why we have the NBI. That’s why we have the CIDG. They should be the ones to do a thorough investigation. Why is there no sense of urgency? Why is Senate the one doing the investigation?” he added.
Gordon was reacting to PhilHealth officials’ signing of bank waiver to show transparency in their bank transactions. The Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) will investigate this part of the controversy.
The NBI has already created a task force to look into the reported anomalies in the state insurance firm. The investigation will include a lifestyle check on PhilHealth employees.
