An 18-year-old man was arrested after dangling a donut hanging from a stick in front of policemen’s faces in Washington, United States.

Officers detained Benjamin Hansen during a rally that supported police on July 17, as per The Everett Herald last Tuesday, July 21. The young man attended the event as part of a group protesting the gathering.

The majority of the said group kept their distance from the pro-police rally and stayed on the other side of the street. However, Hansen crossed the street on his skateboard and teased the police with the donut dangling from the stick, as seen in a video taken by one Bennett Haselton.

While the young man hung the pastry in front of a lieutenant not in uniform, officer James Simoneschi suddenly pushed Hansen away.

“Get your sh*t outta here, man,” the Simoneschi said in the clip obtained by the newspaper.

The teenager then calmly asked for the badge numbers and names of the group of authorities. The officers simply stayed silent as Simoneschi escorted Hansen away.

As the officer walked away with the teenager, Haselton asked what Hansen was being arrested for. Another policeman then pushed Haselton away while stating that Hansen had “assaulted” the officer.

Hansen was later placed in the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of fourth-degree assault, as per report. He was eventually released the next day after posting a $1,000 bail (about P49,000).

This is not the first time Hansen has faced problems with authorities. He was arrested for third-degree assault in January 2019 after swinging his arms at an officer while being treated for a suspected alcohol overdose at a local hospital. Among other previous charges, the report added that he hit a school employee and threatened a police officer when he was just 12 years old. Ryan Arcadio/JB
