DSWD distributes 60% of first tranche of cash aid
MANILA, Philippines — With only a few days left before the May 7 deadline, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has so far distributed over 60 percent of the first tranche of cash aid to poor families across the country.
As of Saturday night, DSWD reported that it had given out P62.8 billion out of the P100-billion social amelioration fund, through local government units, for the first month of the lockdown.
At least P45.8 billion of this amount went to low-income families who were not part of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program. DSWD’s target is 18 million families, but has so far only 11.6 million beneficiaries have received as of Saturday.
