Manila posts 4 new COVID-19 cases; 1 fatality
MANILA, Philippines — Four more residents of the city of Manila have been found positive for COVID-19, the local government said Thursday, increasing the total count of cases to 36.
Data from the Manila Public Information Office also revealed that a COVID-19 patient has died, bringing the capital city’s death toll at four.
The city health office likewise said it has recorded 44 more persons under investigation (PUIs) for the respiratory disease, making the total number of PUIs reach 144 as of Thursday, including the 14 PUIs who already died.
The outbreak of the novel coronavirus or SARS-CoV-2, which leads to COVID-19, emerged in China’s Wuhan City in Hubei province in December 2019.
People infected with the highly contagious respiratory disease could recover as its symptoms (fever and cough) could be mild for most people. But it can also be a high risk for older adults and those with underlying health issues.
