P3-M aid for displaced Mariveles workers
MARIVELES, Bataan, Philippines — The Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) extended P3 million worth of assistance to Mariveles factory workers affected by the Luzon lockdown that would curb the spread of the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Some 32,000 factory workers were displaced when 97 manufacturers and other businesses operating at the Bataan free port suspended their operations to comply with the enhanced community quarantine, said AFAB Administrator Emmanuel Pineda.
Only Medtex Manufacturing is operational, to churn out millions of surgical masks and hospital safety equipment for the country.
