Gamboa to PNP: Be inspired by Rizal’s sacrifice for nation’s freedom

MANILA, Philippines — The national police force should be inspired by Dr. Jose Rizal’s sacrifice for the country’s freedom as the country, Philippine National Police (PNP) officer-in-charge Lt. Gen. Archie Gamboa said Monday as the country marked the 123rd anniversary of the national hero’s death.

“Rizal took the opportunity to die a meaningful death and awaken the nation to rise from bondage,” Gamboa said.

“The men and women of the PNP derive inspiration from Rizal’s supreme sacrifice that we too shall be honored to offer our’s,” he added.

Gamboa said police officers should embody Rizal’s sacrifice in ensuring the public’s safety and minimizing crime.

He added that the PNP will continue to serve its countrymen as the new heroes of this generation.

“Binibigyang-pugay ng buong hanay ng Pambansang Pulisya ang malaking sakripisyo ng ating Pambansang Bayani para sa kalayaang tinatamasa natin ngayon,” Gamboa said.

[The PNP honors the great sacrifice of our national hero which helped gain the independence we enjoy today.]

“At sa pamamagitan ng serbisyo-publiko, pinatutunayan ng PNP ang buong pusong paglillingkod para sa bansa at bilang tahanan ng mga makabagong bayani ng ating panahon,” he added.

[Through public service, the PNP will prove its dedication to the country and serve as the home of the new  heroes of this age.]
