LPA outside PAR develops into tropical depression

MANILA, Philippines — The low-pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has developed into a tropical depression, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported Friday afternoon.

The state weather bureau said the LPA outside PAR was spotted 2,370 kilometers east of Mindanao with maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) and gusts of 60 kph.

It is moving west-northwest at 15 kph and will be named “Ursula” once it enters PAR on Tuesday or Wednesday

Meanwhile, another LPA is being monitored inside PAR which is expected to bring rainshowers in parts of Visayas, Mindanao

It was located 605 kilometers east southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur but has a low chance of developing into a storm.

Pagasa said Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, and Quezon will experience cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and isolated thunderstorms due to easterlies.

The rest of Luzon is expected to have a fair weather condition with chances of thunderstorm in the evening.
