Man charged for allegedly turning children’s playroom in church into meth lab

A man from Maine, USA, has been charged for allegedly using a children’s playroom in a Methodist church to manufacture methamphetamine.
Matthew Anderson, 33, was identified as the suspect after officials of the Buxton United Methodist Church reported a “suspicious activity complaint” to the local police last Thursday, Dec. 5.
Authorities found “items consistent with the manufacturing process of methamphetamine” inside the designated children’s playroom located upstairs of the church, as per a Buxton Police Department statement released via Facebook on Saturday, Dec. 7.

Anderson was then taken into custody by the police for an “unrelated arrest warrant.” After being interviewed, Anderson was charged with “unlawful operation of a methamphetamine lab” by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.
After being unable to post his $50,000 bail, Anderson was transported to the York County Jail in the town of Alfred, Maine.
The 33-year-old is set to appear in the Alfred Superior Court on Jan. 24 next year. /ra
