Cop motorcyclist dies in Quezon road mishap

LUCENA CITY –– A motorcycle rider died after he was hit by a truck along the diversion road here on Monday night.

Lucena police reported that while traveling towards Pagbilao town, motorcyclist Staff Sgt. Jovel Villanueva slid due to a wet and slippery highway in Barangay Domoit around 7:45 p.m.

As the policeman, who only sustained minor bruises was about to stand to continue his journey, an incoming truck being driven by Raulito Quijano bumped and dragged the victim and his motorcycle several meters away from the point of impact.

The victim, assigned at the 1st Quezon provincial mobile force company based in Candelaria town, sustained grave body injuries and died on the spot.

The report said the victim was traveling back to his post at the police detachment along the Maharlika Highway in Barangay Talipan in Pagbilao when the accident happened. Delfin T. Mallari Jr./lzb
