SEA Games in Calabarzon safe, secure – Solcom chief
LUCENA CITY –– The commander of the military’s Southern Luzon Command (Solcom) said that athletes and game sites of the 30th SEA Games in the Calabarzon region would be safe from any threat.
“The 30th SEA Games are safe and secured. While we are confident that all security measures are in place, we are not giving any chance for any threat,” Lt. General Gilbert Gapay, Solcom commander, said in a statement released by Lt. Colonel Dennis Cana, Solcom public information officer, on Friday.
Gapay said the Security Task Force Southern Luzon (STF-SL) has been working round the clock to ensure that security forces are all over and are well prepared to face any contingency.
Gapay said the STF-SL does not leave anything to chance as international delegations are already arriving in different game sites and players billeting areas in the region.
He added that the STF-SL has been conducting security inspections in different games venues and accommodation areas in the region.
Among the sports that Calabarzon is hosting are polo being held in Batangas; cycling (Tagaytay City and Batangas); skateboarding (Tagaytay and Maragondon, Cavite); women’s football (Biñan Football Field and UP Football Stadium); underwater hockey (Imus City); netball (Sta.
