Sorsogon classes suspended on Dec. 2, 3 as Bicol braces for ‘Tisoy’
SORSOGON CITY –– The provincial government of Sorsogon has declared a suspension of classes for Monday and Tuesday (Dec. 2 and 3) at all levels at private and public schools in anticipation of Typhoon “Tisoy” (Kammuri), which is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Saturday.
Dong Mendoza, Sorsogon media relations officer, said on Friday that Governor Francis Chiz Escudero, as head of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, would also order the preemptive evacuation of residents living in low-lying areas.
Escudero also advised the social welfare and development office to pre-position the food supplies for the evacuees.
The said measures are meant to attain the “zero casualties” goal in case “Tisoy” hits Sorsogon./lzb
