TS Kammuri to enter PAR possibly a day after SEA Games opening
MANILA, Philippines — Tropical storm Kammuri maintains its strength while moving westward over the sea southwest of Guam, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services (Pagasa) said Wednesday.
The weather disturbance was spotted 1,755 kilometers east of Visayas outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) at 10 a.m., according to the 11 a.m. bulletin of Pagasa.
Kammuri is expected to enter PAR either on Sunday, a day after the opening of the 30th Southeast Asian Games, or Monday. It will be named Tisoy once it enters PAR.
Pagasa said the tropical storm is packing maximum sustained winds of 85 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of 105 kph, and moving west at 25 kph.
The state weather bureau advised the public and disaster risk reduction and management councils to monitor updates on the tropical storm.
