BAYAMBANG, Pangasinan — A man, who hacked his wife to death on Friday afternoon, was killed by responding policemen when he threatened them with a bolo, a belated report said.

Rosendo Panaman, a 47-year-old farmer, struck Marivic several times with a machete at 3 p.m as she fed their pet dogs in their home in Barangay San Gabriel 2nd.

Their 15-year-old son, who was outside the house, raced indoors when he heard screaming and witnessed Panaman murder his 42-year-old mother, police said.

The boy fled when Panaman turned on him. The policemen tried to pacify Panaman, but fired when he swung at them with the bolo.

Panaman and his wife were declared dead on arrival at a hospital. Marivic bore about ten hack wounds, the police said.
