MANILA, Philippines—At least 1,500 soldiers and reservists from the three branches of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) had been tapped for military exercises that would include live fire training.
Dubbed “Dagit-Pa (Dagat-Langit-Lupa)”, the exercises were launched on Monday (Sept 16) in ceremonies at the AFP Education and Training Command at Camp Aguinaldo.
The exercises will run up to Sept. 27.
In the coming days, troops from the Army, Air Force and Navy will conduct joint exercises including air/maritime interdiction in Palawan; amphibious landing in Zambales; airfield seizure and military operations in urban terrain in Nueva Ecija; and combined arms live fire exercise in Tarlac.
“This year’s reiteration of the AFP joint exercise will help us strengthen our territorial defense capabilities and our conduct of of internal security operations,” said Brig. Gen. Francisco Mendoza, the assistant deputy chief of staff for education and training./TSB
