SAN PEDRO CITY –– Three heinous crime convicts earlier released from prison surrendered to authorities in Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, police said on Thursday.

Their surrender was under President Duterte’s directive, amid controversies surrounding the Good Conduct Time Allowance (GCTA) that reduced sentences and allowed the early release of convicts.

In Batangas City, a 2006 rape convict went to the city police station around 5 p.m. Wednesday. According to a police report, he was released from the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City on September 30, 2016.
