BuCor exec admits list of heinous crime GCTA convicts ‘hastily made’
MANILA, Philippines — The list of 1,917 heinous crime convicts released under the good conduct time allowance (GCTA) law which included plunder convict Janet Lim Napoles, was made hastily and was not checked properly, a Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) official admitted on Thursday.
BuCor documents officer Ramoncito Roque was asked by Senator Richard Gordon, who is leading the investigation into the alleged irregularities within the BuCor, as to why the said list submitted to the Senate showed inaccuracy in the records.
“Your honor, ang natatandaan ko po diyan, yung list na yan, mabilisan pong pinagawa samin,” Roque said.
“Magpe-press conference po kasi sa Palawan during that time, kaya po hindi po namin na-check talaga ng mabuti po yan,” he added.
But Gordon said: “What has that got to do with the press conference, may listahan kayo, dapat inaalagaan niyo yung listahan ninyo.”

The senator pointed out that the list, which was checked by his staff, showed that the records of the 197 of the more than 800 heinous crime convicts released during the tenure of sacked BuCor chief Nicanor Faeldon were incorrect.
“Halos 10 percent no’ng record nila mali,” Gordon said.
“Yung sinubmit niyo, mali-mali ang kaso, double entry,” he added.
Gordon asked Roque to explain why the list showed inaccurate records.
“Yun po ang pinaliwanag sakin sa computer section namin, na nagkakaroon po…yung pag-pangalan po, nagdo-doble po,” Roque answered.
But Gordon told the BuCor official: Oo, pero pwede mong icheck yun, ba’t kami na-check namin?.
“Na-check na rin po nila yun kahapon yata, you honor,” Roque responded.
“Nag-check kayo nung mabalitaan niyo na sinabi ko na may mga pangalan don ang kaso rape..,” Gordon said. “ Palusot yan. Nahuli na eh.”
Earlier, Gordon confirmed that plunder convict Janet Lim Napoles was on the list of heinous crime convicts set for release under the good conduct law.

Her listed convoction, however, was for rape.
“Kung yun ngang si Napoles eh, nilagay niyo rape. Under appeal rin yung kaso niyan. Lalabas, swerte Naman niya no. Wala namang masama, kung tama pwedeng lumabas per o kung maling-mali naman eh,” Gordon further said during the hearing. /muf
