‘Liwayway’ intensifies into tropical storm–Pagasa
MANILA, Philippines — Weather disturbance “Liwayway” has intensified into a tropical storm, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) announced Monday morning.
In its 11 a.m. weather bulletin, Pagasa said that “Liwayway” now has a maximum sustained winds of up to 65 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.
“Liwayway” was last spotted at 340 kilometers east northeast of Daet, Camarines Norte, the bureau added.
Pagasa said that the trough of “Liwayway” will bring scattered light to heavy rains over the Bicol Region, Cagayan including Babuyan islands and Batanes.
Nevertheless, the said weather disturbance is still “less likely” to make landfall in the country.
