Watch: ‘Go Malasakit’ TV program features Malasakit Center dialysis beneficiary

MANILA, Philippines – “Go Malasakit,” the newest public service TV program of  Inquirer 990 TV features inspiring stories about the Malasakit Center, a flagship project of Senator Christopher “Bong” Go,  which offers government assistance to patients and their relatives.

The most recent episode of the TV program, which airs every Thursday from 6p.m. to 7p.m.  featured a patient who was diagnosed with chronic renal disease in Navotas City.

Patient Edbert Dionisio, 41, had to undergo hemodialysis three times a week. Each dialysis session costs P2,800.

As a member of Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth), Dionisio is entitled to 90 free dialysis sessions a year.

Dionisio, however, has already availed of all the free dialysis sessions.

His wife, Marites had to find ways sustain her husband’s treatment.

“Kailangan ko magmalimos para lang maipagamot ang asawa,” Marites said on the “Go Malasakit” TV program.

Marites sought financial assistance from local government officials, Philhealth, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.

Due to the long treatment process, however, Marites still had a hard time sustaining her husband’s treatment and was starting to feel hopeless.

Malasakit Center assistance

Fortunately, she saw the Malasakit Center desk at the hospital.

The Malasakit Center promised to shoulder the dialysis expenses of her husband.

“Salamat sa Diyos, salamat kay Senador Bong Go. Hindi na ako mag-aalala sa pang-dialysis ng asawa ko,” Marites said.

Through the Malasakit Center, patients can avail of financial and other forms of  assistance from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, PhilHealth, Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation, Department of Health and Department of Social Welfare and Development.

There are 40 Malasakit Center nationwide.

Patients of accredited hospitals, in need of medical financial assistance, can avail of the services of the Malasakit Center.
