NGCP places Luzon grid on yellow alert due to very thin reserved power
MANILA, Philippines — The whole Luzon grid was placed on yellow alert status since Thursday morning due to very low remaining power supply, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said.
The yellow alert, according to NGCP’s tweet, will last from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on June 27, because the peak demand of power will crucially drain the remaining available capacity.
Luzon grid status, 27 June 2019:
Yellow Alert
9:00AM-4:00PMAvailable Capacity – 11,288MW
Peak Demand – 10,824MWDetails on the cause to be announced by the Department of Energy (DOE) later in the day.

The grid’s available capacity was set at 11,288 megawatts, while peak demand is expected to be at 10,824 megawatts, leaving a significantly low reserve of 464 megawatts.
NGCP’s declaration is the latest in a string of yellow and red alerts issued just for the month of June. The Department of Energy is set to explain details about the newest yellow alert within the day. (Editor: Jonathan P. Vicente)
