05:00 AM June 03, 2019

Under the Bus Management and Dispatch System (BMDS) of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, bus drivers are registered through fingerprint scanners and dispatch is controlled in five major terminals in Baclaran, Alabang, Fairview, Navotas and Valenzuela City as well as nine satellite stations to improve city bus operations, particularly on Edsa.

A total of 12,710 drivers have been enrolled under the scheme since 2012. In 2018, the BMDS recorded a total of 1,856,964 bus trips, averaging 5,090 bus trips daily. —Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
