Grass fire erupts along Bulacan highway

CITY OF MALOLOS—A grass fire broke out along the southbound lane of MacArthur Highway in Barangay Dakila here on Monday.

Felicisima Mungcal, head of the Bulacan provincial disaster risk reduction management office, said the fire started at 12:30 p.m. and was near a residential area.

Mungcal said the city’s firefighters and policemen immediately responded to put the fire out, preventing the fire from spreading to nearby areas.

Two more incidents of grass fire were also reported in Barangay Sumapang Matanda over the weekend.

Fire officials said the hot weather could have caused the grass fire.
